"An exploration of stress and coping behaviour of parents and caregivers with children diagnosed with
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder"

To date, the vast majority of  research on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) has been on its epidemiology, and only recently has there been research conducted on parenting and AD/HD. Research concerning the issue of parenting and AD/HD is limited in regards to the coping strategies used by parents to deal with the parenting stress they experience from raising a child, or children, with AD/HD.

Studies have demonstrated that parents with children diagnosed with AD/HD experience more stress than parents with children without AD/HD. This has been found to lead to several problems, including health and financial struggles. This project will investigate the coping techniques used by parents with children who are diagnosed with AD/HD, and its effects on their children.

Titled "An Exploration of Parental Stress and Coping Mechanisms, and the Self-Perceived Effects on their Children with AD/HD", this project aims to collect evidence for a previously unknown body of knowledge on parental stress and coping of parents and caregivers with children who are diagnosed with AD/HD, and contribute towards future development of strategies, which will better assist parents and caregivers of AD/HD children in coping with their stress.
