The aim of
this research study is to ascertain how decision makers in complex systems make
decisions, what tools and/or methods they use in their daily practice, and what
factors influence their decision making. The study also aims to explore whether
economic evaluations are used by healthcare decision makers.
1. To identify the current awareness of economic evaluation information and
resource allocation decision-making among key health care decision makers at
different levels of Australia’s health care system.
2. To explore the way in which economic evaluation information is being used by
key health care decision makers at different levels of Australia’s health care
system.
3. To identify factors encouraging/discouraging the use of economic evaluation
information as perceived by decision makers at different levels of Australia’s
health care system.
4. To identify dimensions of health economics evaluations that are used by
Australia’s health care decision makers.
5. To explore the reasons for improving resource allocation decision-making
given by Australia’s health care decision makers.
6. To explore the relationship between economic evaluation and resource
allocation decision making among decision makers at different levels of
Australia’s health care system.
7. To identify factors enhancing/limiting the resource allocation decision
making process at different levels of Australia’s health care system.
8. To compare the perspective of participants at different levels of Australia’s
health care system about resource allocation decision making background and
economic evaluation information.
