Facilitating Planning

Maybe the most useful single tool for project planning is well facilitated meetings or workshops. In large projects the various people involved rarely get together. People involved with one function may not meet another stakeholder, or understand their point of view. Human relationship skills and communication skills are important in every project - but often underrated.

In facilitated workshops, learning sets or project team meetings these aspects come to the fore. Participants are facilitated in reflecting on their performance and feelings in their individual or shared projects.

The most valuable tool for facilitation is the facilitator's self. We must develop our communication and relationship skills, linking the success of our facilitation to our personal growth as facilitators.
