(1)      What is the study about?

 Successful Retirement - The Older People and Living Project

Study to look at the transitions from work to retirement incorporating a holistic and multicultural perspective of the current process of retirement from the perspective of the retiree and their families.

(2)      Who is carrying out the study?

The study is being carried out by Caroline Howe for the award of  PhD under the supervision of Dr Gomathi Sitharthan Dr. Lynda Matthews, Dr. R. Heard

(3)      What does the study involve?

The study asks you to complete a set of short questionnaires and also gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts through the use of a series of questions with short answer format responses.

(4)      Who will see the study results?

Your responses will be recorded electronically. Only the researcher will have access to results. These results will not be identifiable by name.

Electronic responses will be coded by a number of your choosing.

Electronic results will then be kept in locked data files. Mailed result forms will also be attributed a number upon arrival and will remain in a locked cabinet in the researchers office at all times.

(5)      How much time will the study take?

The study is set in 2 stages

1.  Demographic data collection – 3 minutes

2.  Questionnaires – 8 minutes

Times will vary according to the individual

(6)     Can I withdraw from the study?

Being in this study is completely voluntary - you are not under any obligation to consent to participate and you can withdraw at any time.

(7)     Will the study benefit me?

Not immediately. It is anticipated that the responses generated by the study will be able to effect change in how Rehabilitation Counsellors practice and work with an ageing population. Your ideas will directly contribute to effecting change for generations to come.

 (8)     Can I tell other people about the study?

Yes.

(9)     Can I print the study and send it in?

 Yes

Studies may be printed out with the consent form and sent into the researchers. Address the studies to:
