 Unit Description

The unit aims to provide students with an understanding of the requirements of basic health risk management in the context of international agreements, principles adopted by the World Health Organisation (WHO), International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions, and other relevant standards.  Students develop a program for controlling risks to health which have been identified in a particular regional environment, in the light of relevant international and national requirements.

Objectives

·        Identify the economic, environmental, political and social factors which contributed to health and illness in the selected region

  • Understand the basic principles of health risk management as required by relevant Australian and international standards
  • Develop a program to control a health risk arising in the region under study
