ESS Web Site Changes |
Apart from routine updates of information, the main changes have been:
- January 2007 - e-board updated, link to Sharepoint added to home page.
- January 2005 - New e-board site set up with no automatic postings but allowing moderated postings from anyone.
- December 2004 - e-board abandoned due to inappropriate student postings; WebCT discussion forums set up instead.
- July 2004 - News section added. Biomechanics section deleted [all biomechanics staff, research etc is integrated into remainder of web site]. Logs section deleted [logs are no longer analysed]. Linthorne section deleted [Dr Linthorne now works elsewhere]. 2002 electronic noticeboard deleted.
- January 2004 - New e-board implemented with automatic email notification of postings [2003 e-board postings retained]
- October 2003 - additions to Nutrition sub-section of Undergraduate pages
- June 2003 - Began re-design of our site pages to be more consistent with [but not perfectly matching!] the new University design implemented at the beginning of June.
- June 2003 - Began new Nutrition sub-section of Undergraduate pages to accommodate new integrated and double degrees
- April 2003 - Research Areas page re-designed and updated; new page for part-time staff added.
- March 2003 - Teaching partners page added
- January 2003 - FrontPage web pages moved to a new server, running Microsoft IIS software on a MS operating system instead of the previous unix based system. Some previously non-FrontPage files moved into the FrontPage system.
- November 2002 - Design changes: new simplified header introduced and navigation links moved to new footer. Frames structure removed, replaced by server-included files where appropriate.
- August 2002 - The Rehabilitation Research Centre web site moved to become part of the ESS web site.
- July 2002 - Alumni section, Search page, and Site Map added.
- June 2002 - Staff Directory: New staff members added, departed staff members removed.
- May 2002 - Research Students page merged with Research Student Supervision page.
- February 2002 - New Research Student Supervision page added and layout of main Research page changed. Most 2002 Unit of Study outlines added.
- December 2001 - Most pages moved from "/ESS/" to "/ess/" domain
- November 2001 - Individual web pages created for each member of staff, with some basic information provided. This minimal web presence may be supplemented by contributions provided by the individuals concerned. [Some staff manage their own web pages, so this does not apply to them]. Basic home pages for all undergraduate Units of Study created - these will only contain the Unit Outline in PDF format, unless the Unit of Study Coordinator provides more. Postgraduate and Undergraduate pages re-organised to give new "home" locations of /ess/pgrad and /ess/ugrad respectively. Style sheet updated with more consistent colours.
- August 2001 - Graphic on School home page changed to a randomly selected sport and exercise image.
- April 2001 - Header for main school pages revised. Main School pages altered to include frames structure and javascript.
- December 2000 - Electronic noticeboard added.
- October 2000 - Graphics updated, especially on "Research" pages.
- August 2000 - Future Students page revised.
- July 2000 - New style implemented [minor changes only].
- April 2000 - Research pages re-organised and new material added
- April 1999 - Site "make-over", style sheet implemented
- January 1997 - School of Exercise & Sport Science officially created.
- September 1996 - Web site created.
Minor alterations are being made all the time. Each page carries its own "Last Modified" date, and the name of the person who did the editing.
