The position will be primarily responsible for
coordinating and participating in Camp Go Ahead and Camp LionHeart and
assisting with other patient recreational activities within the
Rehabilitation Department. Essential:
Previous experience in organising & facilitating recreational activities
for people with a disability. Knowledge of recreation services in the
community and how to access them. Demonstrated organisational skills and
ability to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to liaise with people from a
range of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Excellent
communication skills, both written and verbal for a range of audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic to
intermediate computer skills (email, website access, word document
creation/editing). Ability to be available for occasional evening and
overnight work. Appropriate First aid certificate (or willingness to
obtain).
Desirable: Relevant
qualifications in Diversional Therapy, leisure or recreation..
Experience with children and adolescents with special needs (e.g.
Acquired Brain Injury) or the paediatric population. Experience with
working with sponsors and support groups. Experience using and
maintaining a client database. Experience managing basic financial
records related to recreational tasks.
12 month temporary contract (with possibility of
extension); working hours and arrangement are negotiable.

The Physiology Department of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)
currently offers three occupational trainee placements annually.
This unique and exciting opportunity sees successful applicants
trained in all aspects of field and laboratory testing, and will
receive the opportunity to assist in research and work closely with
AIS Sport Programs. A number of successful applicants have
progressed their career in roles such as PhD candidates, laboratory
managers and physiologists for elite sporting teams. These
placements are open to Australian and overseas students, outstanding
students who have or will soon finish their Undergraduate Degree in
a Sport Science or a related area would be most suitable to these

an accredited exercise physiologist to work for my practice, Home
Visit Physio, on a casual sub contracting basis. I have the
opportunity to present a series of exercise classes to aged care
hostel residents. Initially, there would be 2 x 1.5 hour sessions
per week, held mid mornings on the lower north shore.
The suitable applicant would have a genuine interest and great
rapport with elderly clients. They would also have a basic
understanding of the cognitive behavioural approach to chronic pain
management. (There is an opportunity to attend a CBT training
evening coming up on the evening of 12th of March, which
I would like the suitable applicant to attend).
